Meet Lindsey Sauter

Bay Area therapist specializing in parenting stress and EMDR Therapy

Hi, I’m Lindsey Sauter. I’m a mom of two, a partner to a first responder, and the “zookeeper” of our home. I love coffee, good food, staying active, and spending time with people I care about.

For a long time, I lived in a constant state of overwhelm—trying to keep up, care for others, and push through, even when I felt exhausted inside. I know how easy it is to lose yourself in the stress of daily life and fall into patterns that leave you feeling reactive, depleted, and stuck. When I finally gave myself space to pause and reflect, I began to understand how much childhood expectations were still shaping the way I handled adulthood stress, relationships, and the demands of everyday life. That insight led me into my own journey and invited me to take an honest look at the internal patterns and protective adaptations that had been running quietly in the background. Learning to realign my values, priorities, thoughts, and behaviors in a more intentional and balanced way has been (& continues to be) a daily practice. I believe that we all deserve that same kind of relief, healing, and support.

Parenting and everyday life can feel like a constant balancing act—carrying responsibilities while quietly holding stress, guilt, and the question, “Am I enough?” When you are always tending to everyone else’s needs, it can be easy to lose touch with your own sense of steadiness, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, reactive, and emotionally worn down. EMDR therapy goes beyond coping skills. It helps target the root of emotional overwhelm so you can feel calmer, more grounded, and more like yourself again. Instead of just managing the symptoms of stress, EMDR can help you process the experiences and patterns underneath them, creating space for more ease, clarity, and connection in your daily life.

As a licensed California-based therapist offering virtual sessions statewide—including the Bay Area, Livermore, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, and San Diego—I specialize in supporting parents and individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and past experiences that continue to show up in the present. Using an EMDR and attachment-based approach, we’ll work together to help you process what’s been weighing on you to create lasting change.

You don’t have to keep pushing through on your own. If you’re ready to start thinking about what your own healing could look like, I’d be honored to hold space and support you in your process.

Experience & Expertise

I’m a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Livermore, California serving clients virtually all across California. My training includes evidence‑based approaches that honor both the emotional and relational nature of healing: attachment work, systems thinking, and mindful interventions. Over years of working with parents, children, teens, and families, I’ve helped clients reconnect, build calm in chaos, and move from disconnection to deeper connection. In therapy with me, your story matters—and everything we build together is rooted in your values, your pace, and your goals.
